On the return ferry crossing from Cowes to Southampton we had a grandstand view of all the yachts including the RY Britannia, which I saw more recently in Edinburgh, where the ship is now in retirement. I did a few sketches on the crossing, and had always meant to do a painting based on them, so this was my chance, having not got round to it before." Stephen David

Bryan King "A few years ago we were in Venice at the beginning of September, which is when the annual Regata Storica festival takes place on the Grand Canal. It begins with a procession of ceremonial rowed barges and is followed by races of different traditional Venetian boats - crewed by men and women. Week 9 : We were invited to paint facial expressions as inspired by Beryl Cook. I've taken you at your word and used a group of creatures for my range of expressions painting. It is loosely based on Walter de la Mare's "Five eyes" and starts ........."In Woodbridge Mill these three black cats, watch the bins for the thieving rats" and it ends "Jekkel and Jessup, and one-eyed Jill".
