We have moved out of our clubhouse on Tide Mill Way - our home for 50 years! We hope to return. We'll keep you posted on this website and on our Facebook page. In the meantime we are continuing as an Art Club in other locations and welcome new members.
Exhibition: For our next Exhibition we will return to the Framlingham Unitarian Meeting House on 29 November - 1 December. Our club members are busy creating new artworks - photography, paintings and ceramics.
Welcome to the Woodbridge Art Club website.
Woodbridge Art Club has been a much loved presence in Tide Mill Way for over 50 years. Members made it into a vibrant creative club in a building ideal for our use and in a perfect position, with a studio, a kiln, and exhibition space. Over the years many visitors have enjoyed our exhibitions, returning often just to view, sometimes to buy a piece of work as a present or memento.
The original building was renovated by members specifically as an art space, and for some years now has been leased from Woodbridge Town Council who had eventually come to own it. Like all buildings repair work is needed, and a new roof has become more urgent. It is a building on a beautiful prime site, and the Council some months ago made the decision to end the lease, with the plan of repairing the roof, and then offer the building for hire more widely for community use including ourselves.
However more recently, and under huge financial pressure, the council has made the decision after a period of public consultation to put the site on the market, seeking a suitable buyer appropriate for the building itself, the Woodbridge community, and the thriving Whisstocks area. We would love to be back and will be in regular communication with the council as we consider the option of buying.
In the meantime, as from 1st April, the building has been sadly empty, and members dispersed to other temporary venues including the Sea Scouts for the painters, the Bowls Club for the photographers, while the potters are in Felixstowe.
As a club be assured we continue to flourish, and we are very much still welcoming new members. We have exhibitions in different sites at the planning stage, and hope when the sunshine arrives we can be found sketching by the waterfront from time to time. Do get in touch if you would like to join us.
