Jean Maxwell

I had not picked up a paint brush since childhood, until my hearing deteriorated and I needed something to do that could distract me and was not dependent on listening. I found a brilliant class with a patient teacher, and quickly discovered how much I enjoyed the challenges of trying different styles and techniques. I almost always use watercolours, influenced by a great uncle I never met. I have a number of his pictures on my walls at home. Gradually I have found my own style, preferring landscapes, buildings, texture, and often using line and wash.
